The Fort Benning population includes Soldiers and retirees, family members and civilian personnel. Fort Benning is home to two training brigades - the 198th and the 192d, as well as the 3d Brigade, 3d Infantry Division; 197th Infantry Regiment; 199th Infantry Brigade; 11th Engineer Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Ranger Training Brigade; the United States Army Marksmanship Unit and the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC).

The Fort Benning community is growing with the move of the U.S. Army Armor School from Fort Knox,Ky., a move that will be completed by Sept. 15, 2011. The move of the Armor School will increase local populations by 28,000, including Soldiers, their family members, contract and DoD employees.
What is Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation?
Family and MWR provides high quality programs, ranging from child care to financial counseling and deployment assistance, as well as entertainment and leisure activities. The mission of Fort Benning's Family and MWR is to enhance and improve the quality of life for our customers through recreation, child and youth services, social, entertainment and lodging programs. We believe Family and MWR programs and events help keep our Soldiers and their families fit, reduce stress, building skills and self-confidence, and help boost morale and camaraderie.
What is Commercial Sponsorship?
A commercial business is given the opportunity to become part of a Fort Benning Family and MWR event or program by paying a monetary and/or in-kind fee in return for access to the exploitable commercial potential associated with the event. Each commercial sponsorship is contracted for a specified event or period of time. Commercial sponsorship may be used only for Family and MWR events and programs. Unit events, family support groups, private organizations and non-DFMWR programs are not eligible for commercial sponsorship.
