Family Child Care

The Fort Benning Family Child Care program provides quality in-home care for children from 4 weeks to 12 years old. Options include full or part day, hourly, before and after school, special needs, emergency and long term care.

FCC homes, on post and off, must comply with state and FCC guidelines and meet fire, safety and health requirements. Providers are trained in CPR & first aid, health, safety, business practices, child abuse identification and reporting, nutrition, administering medication, child growth and development and more.

The advantages of FCC

  • You may choose a multi-cultural home where children can learn a second language.
  • FCC providers care for no more than six children at a time, and children are typically exposed to fewer illnesses than those who attend a larger traditional child care facility.
  • Providers get to know children on a personal basis, resulting in a more comfortable "home away from home" experience.
  • FCC homes have the same activity centers as traditional child care facilities, including play areas, arts and reading areas.
  • FCC providers have a daily lesson plan parents may review.
  • Extended hours for early mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays and long-term care are available.
  • Homes may be close to your residence or work, on or off post.
  • Homes meet same standards as on post facilities, including monthly inspections by fire & safety officials.
  • All providers and their familiy members 12 and older are subject to a background check.
  • Some FCC providers are trained to accommodate children with special needs.
  • You may interview prospective providers and visit their homes.

Benefits to the FCC provider

Free Car Seat Check

Children younger than 8 must ride in a safety seat or booster seat. Fort Benning EMS conducts regular seat checks for military families the third Thursday of each month at the Main PX on Marne Road.

We will inspect your seat to ensure it is installed properly for the safety of your child.

For your convenience, seat checks can also be done any time at Building 9203, behind Martin Army Community Hospital.

Expectant parents can schedule an appointment for a car seat tutorial by calling 706-544-4000.
