MISSION STATEMENT
The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) Program is open to
single Soldiers of all ranks (including single parents and unaccompanied
Soldiers) who are permanent party on Fort Benning. There are three main
components to the BOSS program:
Quality of
Life/Well Being
- addressing issues that directly or indirectly influence the
morale, living environment or personal growth and development of
single Soldiers.

Community Service -
Soldiers plan activities and
provide support for programs that already exist within the community.
Voluntary participation is highly encouraged but not required for
participation in BOSS.

Recreation and Leisure -
BOSS
Soldiers coordinate leisure trips at affordable prices and help with
previously planned MWR activities that are coordinated through
the MWR Advisor and BOSS President.

BOSS is the
voice of single Soldiers. We bring important issues to the attention of the
Chain of Command through a structured program that represents the
well-being of single Soldiers. BOSS is not a substitute for the Chain of
Command. "The philosophical foundation of the BOSS program is based on
the entitlement of single Soldiers to surface issues and recommend policy
changes that will enhance their overall quality of life, to participate in
recreation and leisure activities of their choice, and to contribute to and
participate in their local communities. This program provides an
opportunity to assist in the development of single Soldiers as
leaders." (DA Circular 608-01-1)
Since 2003, an improvement in communication of all BOSS information
post-wide is our number one goal. Once a working chain of communication is
in place, more Soldiers will become involved in activities our program has
planned for the year. Support from the NCO channel and Chain of Command is
necessary to obtain the needed single Soldier participation to make BOSS
sponsored activities successful. Without single Soldiers becoming involved
in the BOSS program we will not grow and excel as a team. Participation and
Communication is the key to making the Fort Benning BOSS program the best
in the United States Army. I look forward to meeting and working with you
at any one of the numerous BOSS activities taking place this year.
