Tailgating starts at 1:30pm, with free kids’ activities, entertainment, a Silver Wings parachute exhibition and more. Refreshments will be available. Doughboy Football home games are always free and open to the public. We encourage our fans to wear black for this event. Doughboy t-shirts are available at the Breezeway on Muir Street, $8 for youth and $10 for adults.

Your German word of the day is “schnitzel.” It is actually a traditional dish in many countries, but those other countries won’t be cooking up a dish of delish at the Fort Benning Oktoberfest celebration this weekend at Uchee Creek.

Schnitzel is cutlet of veal, chicken, beef, turkey or pork, sometimes breaded, made with boneless meat thinned with a hammer or mallet and fried. Schnitzel is one of many German foods you’ll enjoy this weekend.

Of course, we're also serving beer and bratwurst and a variety of delicious desserts. You will enjoy German bands and yodelers, free hay rides, pony rides and carnival rides, stein hoisting, keg throwing and so much more.

For details about this free fun event, which is open to the public, visit our Facebook page.

From Fort Benning Family Advocacy Program: Join us for a free Women’s Empowerment Symposium from 1:30-3:30pm October 22 at the Benning Club. This symposium focuses on these two areas as women have a tendency to neglect themselves for the betterment of their families, jobs, and friends. Women often put themselves on the back burner to take care of others as by nature we are care givers! This symposium aims to empower women to be mindful to focus on themselves just as they do the other pertinent people in their lives. For more information, call 706-545-3202. ... See MoreSee Less
